Eight Gigs: Eternal Tapestry
Sat., March 28, 8 p.m., Third Space Art Collective, $8
Portland psychedelic band Eternal Tapestry does not create the sort of psychedelic music that you jam to, or rock out to, or even nod your head along to. These are not songs, they are impressionist sonic tapestries. They are sounds crafted together, often improvised, in weird, experimental, freewheeling ways. Eternal Tapestry's latest album, Wild Strawberries, for example, was recorded in a cabin under Mount Hood in Zigzag, Ore. Better yet, the sessions were taped over 700 Phish cassettes via eight-track recorder. Prepare to stand completely still and have your mind blown—more or less sober, though. No booze allowed inside this all-ages venue. 946 Olive Drive in Davis, www.thrilljockey.com/thrill/Eternal-Tapestry.
