Pull out your old bong shaped like the Grim Reaper and prepare your body to get progged all the way out to Mars with Eight Bells, a progressive black/doom band out of Portland, Ore. It’s hard to describe their sound without getting too weird about it, but let’s just say it’s dreamy, ethereal, crushing, groovy and it often surges with a Yes-esque energy; a band for fans of He Whose Ox is Gored and the local (waning). Underling, a Bay Area atmospheric black metal band, and Kyntallah, a local instrumental prog metal outfit, also perform. 1517 21st Street, www.eightbellsband.com.
