Eight Gigs: Death Party at the Beach
Fri., Aug. 5, 5 p.m., Cesar Chavez Plaza, no cover
The standout indie lineup of Concerts in the Park is here—again. After getting rained out in May, this Geographer-headlined reboot promises more or less the same evening to close out the season. Locals Dusty Brown, Death Party at the Beach and Young Aundee are still on the bill, alongside Epsilona, who subbed in for Joe Kye. Do arrive early to catch Death Party at the Beach, an alternative outfit with major ’80s influences. There’s lots of synth, reverb and catchy-as-hell melodies, led by vocalist Lance Derouin, who at times sounds eerily similar to Brandon Flowers of the Killers. 910 I Street, www.facebook.com/
