Eight Gigs: ¡Cubanismo!
Sat., July 25, 7 p.m., Ace of Spades, $25
There's still much to be sorted out in the wake of the renewed relationship between the United States and Cuba. What's not unclear in the slightest: Our islander friends have that whole dance-music thing on lock, and it's just about impossible to stand still when you're listening to Afro-Cuban music. Led by frontman and trumpeter Jesús Alemañy, this 15-piece band is composed of world-class musicians from Cuba and all over the world and has enjoyed international success. To call the percussive, horns-driven music infectious is a real understatement, and in front of a crowd eager to rumba, the show is sure to be a sweaty, hip-swivelling good time. 1417 R Street, www.aceofspadessac.com.
