Eight Gigs: Cove
Fri., Feb. 20, 8:30 p.m., Naked Lounge, $5
Cove is Scott Ferreter's project, a sometimes-acoustic, sometimes-full-band bastion of brutal honesty, dark thoughts and open-heartedness. Folky, ambient, experimental—these are all possible Cove sounds, which earned a Sammie nomination this year for the best in local indie rock, the ultimate umbrella term. Legend goes that Cove was conceived in a dream, in which Ferreter was sobbing and singing a song. He woke up with a fully formed song written in his head, and later, he found himself sobbing while playing it. Dream realized. The eclectic lineup rounds out with Holly L'Babe, Basket House and the Bad Outlets. Bring tissues and sincerity. 1111 H Street, www.covetheband.com.
