Eight Gigs: Blue Oaks

Sacramento blues-rock duo Blue Oaks used to be equal parts vocalist-guitarist Brendan Stone and drummer Cody Walker, but recently, the band added Seneca Barr on keys and Rob Habel on guitar to round out the lineup. What’s more, the newly forged four-piece just finished tracking its debut album, To Be Kind Is Sin, at Gold Standard Studios in early October, with plans for release next February. “When I’d written the songs, I’d always had full parts in mind—not specifically limited to two members,” Stone says. “Having the full band allows us to get a wider spectrum of sound.”1901 10th Street, www.blueoaksmusic.com.
