Eight Gigs: Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame
Fri., Jan. 29, 9 p.m., Torch Club, $8
Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame celebrates its album release at the historic Torch Club for Live at the Gallo Center. As a band that bleeds ’50s Chicago-style blues, it’s fitting that Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame’s musical résumé includes supporting legendary talent like B.B. King, Charlie Musselwhite and Kim Wilson. Big Earl Matthew’s textured vocal style is reminiscent of the boisterous Howlin’ Wolf paired with a driving rhythm section provided by Ian Stambaugh on drums and Randall Niemann on bass. Eli Lester and Jason Finley share guitar duties that round out this feel-good blues band. 904 15 Street, www.facebook.com/
