Eight Gigs: Beatles 1965 Tribute show
Sun., May 3, 6:30 p.m., Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, $8-$10
The year 1965 was a transitional year for the Beatles. That was year they released Help and Rubber Soul. While Help was a slight improvement on the songwriting they'd been doing since the “Love Me Do” days (there were, however, some stand out tracks like “Yesterday”), Rubber Soul set the groundwork for the more experimental, psychedelic work that would later change the face of rock 'n' roll forever. In this show, Sacramento artists will be paying tribute to this unique year in Beatle history by covering album and nonalbum tracks from '65. Artists include David Houston, Kevin Seconds, Autumn Sky (pictured), Gabe Nelson (Bellygunner/Cake), Adrian Bourgeois, Royal Jelly and others. 2708 J Street, www.harlows.com.
