Eight Gigs: Arrington de Dionyso
Fri., March 3, 7:30 p.m., Gold Lion Arts, $10
In the haze of weird indie bands back in the ’90s, Olympia, Wash.-based Old Time Relijun stood out as this crazy explosion of noise with, at times, broken instruments. Listening back, the group incorporated some interesting polyrhythms, throat singing and sophisticated chords. Now, as a solo artist, OTR guitarist and singer Arrington de Dionyso has taken his experimental roots and used them to make challenging, but rewarding music. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, but has a fondness for the saxophone, which can really squeak out some sinister melodies. 2733 Riverside Boulevard, www.arrington.bandcamp.com.
