Correlations in music can be found everywhere. Take the Curious George-loving Jack Johnson and the band Still Time, for example: Both started their musical careers in college, both lived in small beach communities and, while Johnson lists Bob Marley as an inspiration, Still Time opened for Ziggy. But unlike Johnson, Still Time molds funk, reggae and folk to create a diverse jam-band sound inspired by its small beach community.
As they grew in popularity, the guys of Still Time hopped on the West Coast festival circuit and later supported Hawaii-based ska trio Pepper, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. If you’re in the mood for a more laid-back Halloween weekend, check out Still Time with local reggae outfit Zuhg for the Halloween Rockfest.
Still Time plays with Zuhg this Saturday, October 30, 10 p.m. at Harlow’s, 2708 J Street; $12; http://stilltimemusic.com.
