Drink of the vine

Not that I condone drinking mass quantities of alcohol, especially near large bodies of water, but I’m willing to make an exception for Wine and Jazz on the River, a benefit for KVIE public television. The evening will showcase wines from more than 20 Amador County wineries, and guess who gets to taste all that grape-made goodness? Yep, you! While sipping on your glass of zinfandel or sauvignon blanc (the region produces some of the finest in the world), enjoy the sounds of Dutch’s Gramercy Four, a swing-style jazz band. The wine will be flowing from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. this Wednesday. Taste your fill at the California State Railroad Museum at 111 I Street in Old Sacramento. Tickets for the event are $50.
