Downhill Battle

This page, part of a Web site that takes issue with major-record-label lobbying organization the Recording Industry Association of America, details a guerrilla expedition to some Boston-area music retailers. A couple of guys scammed the use of a digital camera at Wal-Mart and then hit some big-box retailers and mall merchants and affixed big red stickers to a bunch of major-label CD releases while recording their activities for posterity. “Warning! This record label pays radio stations to keep independent music off the air,” one sticker read. At the end of the day, after downloading the images, the guys returned the camera. Now, we’re not advocating such obviously anti-business vandalism, mind you (although you can order the stickers from the Web site). We merely love a well-executed prank.
