Don’t scratch, just sniff
Jared Konopitski’s artwork is like a piece of candy, with the sugary, indulgent taste of innocence in your mouth—then a knave slaps you upside the head, knocking the confection out and onto the filthy urban sidewalk. His paintings are gritty and sweet, dark and cartoonish. Word on the street (OK, the press release) is that one of his pieces “smells like peppermints.” Don’t scratch it, just sniff it.
