Donate blood
Winter is typically the slowest time of year for blood donations. Many regular donors get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays and forget to donate blood, which is bad news since the holiday season also happens to be a time when having adequate supplies on hand is critical. An increase in travel, combined with dodgy driving conditions, leads to more accidents and a need for more blood. Plus, the onset of the cold and flu season can take a toll on existing blood supplies. Thankfully, for the past 14 years, BloodSource and 98 Rock have teamed up for the Rock ’n’ Roll Up Your Sleeve blood drive. Everyone who donates a pint of blood will receive a limited-edition 98 Rock T-shirt. If you are in good health, are at least 17 years old and weigh more than 109 pounds, consider donating a pint. The drive will take place this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 3364 El Camino Avenue. Call (866) 82-BLOOD or visit www.bloodsource.org for more information.
