Domestic Disturbance

Rated 2.0 This stepfather thriller, starring Vince Vaughn as the bad guy and John Travolta as the good guy, starts OK and ends miserably. Travolta as the divorced dad must take up arms when his son starts telling bad stories about his new stepdad (Vaughn). The film works moderately well for its first couple acts, but it degenerates into a stupid climatic battle that lacks suspense and plausibility. I found myself laughing during the final minutes and, I can assure you, I wasn’t supposed to be laughing. Steve Buscemi shows up for a couple of scenes, and if you’ve seen the criminally bad commercials and previews for the film, you know what happens to him.
