Domestic Disturbance
Vince Vaughn is credibly creepy as a small-town Maryland businessman and pillar of community respect who marries the ex-wife (Teri Polo) of the local custom boat builder (John Travolta on automatic pilot). When a former crony (Steve Buscemi as slithery slimeball) from his past shows up, the budding philanthropist commits a crime witnessed by his new young son-in-law (Matthew O’Leary) that ignites an overwrought chain reaction of events leading to a violent, flaky finale. This pseudo-Hitchcockian thriller is a sort of rehash of The Stepfather without the nasty bite or delirious chills. Written by Lewis Collick (October Sky) and directed by Harold Becker (Malice, Sea of Love).
