Dog party!!!
15th Annual SPCA Doggy Dash
Humans can have a good time, no doubt, but nobody parties harder than dogs. It’s just their nature—they’re always thirsty, have boundless energy, are horny as hell and brazenly urinate in public.
And nothing will be off the choker chain quite like this Saturday’s 15th annual Doggy Dash, which goes down at William Land Park. Bring your perros, leashes, poop baggies or just your awesome dog-loving self and enjoy the festivities, all a benefit for the Sacramento SPCA.
The main events start at 9 a.m. and includes 2K and 5K walks and a 5K run. Get sponsors for your dog, or pledge on behalf of another participating pup or just make a donation to the SPCA. After the Dashes, there’s a Frisbee contest, pup show and a row of vendors with all sorts of canine products for consumption.
But the crème de la crème of the Doggy Dash celebration is the third annual Pug Race. Flat-faced snorting canines regionwide will convene on Land Park and race their curly tails off, but only one stumpy-legged pugger will be crowned fastest of the slowest breed in Sacramento. Will it be Dizzee, the energetic lil female from East Sac? China or Otis, rookies from the north side? Snot, a black pug with some serious wheels? Or Leroy, the long-legged veteran fresh off the disabled list?
Find out Saturday. Oh, and watch out for those brown bombs.
