Dieting with the duchess?

I know I say this every few months about one thing or another, but I’m going to say it again: “Sacramento has arrived!” Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, will be speaking in our own convention center this week. You’ve seen her waving from carriages in monarchical processions through London. You’ve seen her interviewed by Oprah and Rosie. Now see her live and in person as she, um, talks about her battles with weight loss. (Yes, it’s sad that a woman’s achievements are still considered in terms of her thinness, but that’s a whole other can of feminist worms.) Fergie is the guest speaker at “Inspiration and Fashion,” a diet and fashion show sponsored by Weight Watchers and Downtown Macy’s. The event begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
