As part of the Delta King Theatre’s contract with the Actors’ Equity Association as a “small professional theatre,” the company has named local actor Peter Mohrmann as its producing director. Mohrmann is in charge of many day-to-day responsibilities, including promoting the theater’s season-subscription plans, which the Delta King is offering for the first time. “We’ve already sold out our ‘opening-night plan,’ and now the ‘early-bird plan’ is going well,” Mohrmann said.In order to take the position at the Delta King, Mohrmann has ended his administrative position with Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, where he’s worked for 11 years. “Yes, I quit my day job,” Mohrmann said. “I’m still there part time for a few months.”
Mohrmann has been active as an actor for many years. He appeared most recently in The Laramie Project at River Stage, earning critical praise for his delivery of a crucial monologue at the climax of the show. He may perform as an actor or direct a show at the Delta King at some point, but probably not this season.
In the meantime, the Delta King opens Ira Levin’s popular thriller Deathtrap this weekend.
