Deep gap daydream nation

Christian Kiefer (right) and chums plot an escape from Camp Lee Greenwood, a new government facility for aesthetic re-education.
It’s been a while since we checked in with Christian Kiefer, an occasional contributor to these pages who also appears around town in the guise of singer-songwriter. When last we left him, the Colfax-based artist was riding off the buzz of his presciently titled album Welcome to Hard Times with a new band called Men With Guns; he was fixing to release two new projects, Exodust and Medicine Show. Neither of those have yet come to pass, but Men With Guns will road-test some of the material live, which Kiefer describes as “sounding more and more like a mixture of Doc Watson and Sonic Youth,” at Luna’s Café, 1414 16th St., this Friday, November 9, at 9 p.m. Cover’s $5; Lee Bob opens the show.
