A cannabis-inspired smoothie? Backbone Cafe, the vegan and vegetarian-friendly downtown eatery, recently partnered with Friendly Farms, an award-winning cannabis extract company. The result: Forbidden Sunset ($9.50), a thick banana-berry-pineapple-citrus-coconut milk concoction spiced with ginger, turmeric, beet powder, cayenne pepper and a little pink Himalayan sea salt. The earthy, sweet and slightly spicy mouthfeel is inspired by Friendly Farms’ Forbidden Sunset extract.
