For a couple of years now, I’ve wanted to initiate a fitness-related crawl. The shindig would include dressing up in ’70s-era running gear—with too-short running shorts, knee-high socks and sweat bands—and running from bar to bar, chugging a beer or two at each stop. Yeah, running around with a belly full of beer isn’t exactly a bright idea—or a very healthy one. A much better event is the Fit Crawl 2010, which actually includes participating in fitness activities. What a concept. Participants of all fitness levels will cruise the grid on bikes and visit local businesses to sample a variety of exercises. Crawlers can sample mini classes at Asha Yoga, Bodytribe Fitness, Fleet Feet Sports, Sacramento Pipeworks and Ultimate Fitness. There also will be a gathering after the event at L Wine Lounge (1801 L Street) for food and drinks. They had to get drinks in the mix somehow.

Fit Crawl 2010 is Saturday, May 22, from 1 to 5 p.m.; advance tickets are $25, or $35 to include a bike and helmet rental, adults only; check in is at 12:30 p.m. at Bikes and Bites, 1013 12th Street; www.wellnesstaskforce.org.
