Comedy for cheapskates
Only a comedian can take an average hobby, like smoking pot, and turn it into a hilarious off-Broadway sensation. Arj Barker co-wrote The Marijuana-Logues with comedians Doug Benson and Tony Camin, which debuted in 2004. But Barker also has his hand in other comedic cookie jars: stand-up comedy and a recurring role in HBO’s Flight of the Conchords. He’s also appeared on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Comic Standing. You could say he’s hit the big time. But that doesn’t stop him from dishing out comedy for free to poor students and mooching Sacramentans. Sure, there are other free things to be done on Thursday night, but laughing your ass off trumps getting depressed while watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
