The Folk Alliance Region West, that’s “FAR-West” for short, has put together a packed lineup of showcases and workshops for their 3rd annual Regional Conference. This is the best opportunity around for folk and traditional musicians to gather and discuss their craft. The FAR-West Conference will host a massive group of folk artists from around the world—Utah Phillips, Rosalie Sorrels, Bob Cheevers, Dan Frechette, Sourdough Slim and many, many more—conducting workshops on everything from song structure to folk radio airplay. The event begins at 10:30 a.m., Friday November 17, and closes at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday November 19. Workshops and exhibits open between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and run well into the early morning hours Friday and Saturday night. For full schedule and ticket info, visit the official Web site at www.far-west.org. Single-day registration is $105 for either Friday or Sunday, or $125 on Saturday. A full weekend pass costs $175.
