Coffers and consumption
Soil Born Farms seventh annual Autumn Equinox fundraiser proves that, at $60 a pop, the slow-food scene is a pay-to-play bloc. But still—and coming off last week’s Slow Food USA-sponsored get-good-food-in-American-schools Labor Day event—eating local, natural and organic foods appears to have finally reached a critical mass. People say it’s more expensive, but that’s kind of a misleading notion: More and more families are mindful that what they stuff down their pieholes does, in fact, impact their health. So celebrate this Saturday, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.; tickets at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, 1900 Alhambra Boulevard.
