Closet, The
In the new French comedy by the creator of
The Dinner Game, Daniel Auteuil plays a milquetoast accountant in a condom factory whose personal and professional lives are falling apart until his colleagues begin to suspect that he is gay. And with political correctness running rampant in the workplace, the resident macho homophobe (a surprisingly funny Gerard Depardieu) feels obliged to mend his ways via ill-advised gestures of friendship. The result is a good-natured gender-bender farce in which sexual identities are in a constant state of upheaval and flux. A stellar supporting cast (Thierry Lhermitte, Michele Laroque, Michel Aumont, Jean Rochefort) helps keep things smart and funny at the same time.
