Climate solutions for the rest of us
As people start stringing Christmas lights, dusting off menorahs or erecting Festivus poles in December, the United Nations will convene in Copenhagen, Denmark, to discuss climate-change solutions. The biggest concern at the conference—and basically any time government officials gather—is whether they’ll actually achieve anything. Deb Niemeier, professor of civil and environmental engineering at UC Davis, will present “Climate Change, Causes, Solutions: Will Copenhagen Give Hope?” Monday, November 30, at 7 p.m. at the Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park, 3330 McKinley Boulevard. It’s too late to attend the Copenhagen summit, and it’s probably too expensive anyway, but Niemeier’s presentation is free. For more information, call (916) 557-1100, ext. 119.
