Though it’s already green to purchase high-quality local organic vegetables, the West Sacramento Farmers Market is aiming to make your shopping experience even greener. The West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Waste Management to make the market a “zero waste” operation. That means placing recycling and composting bins throughout the market in an attempt to divert as much material from landfills as possible. The companies will also work with vendors to ensure they are using recyclable and compostable materials. The West Sacramento Farmers Market opens May 19, and runs Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. until dusk through September.
