Chess

A rarely produced gem, Chess features a complex score by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson (that’s right, ABBA) and lyrics by Tim Rice, which makes this musical meditation on the Cold War an odd mash-up of pop and political theory. DMTC’s production benefits from the outstanding voices of Andrea Eve Thorpe and Tevye Ditter. The choreography is a bit clunky, though, and the fantastic number “One Night in Bangkok” is way too busy to be fully experienced. F, Sa 8:15pm; Su 2:15pm. Through 1/30. $9-$18.
