You have until July 9, so there’s no excuse to miss The Chicano Collection / La Colección Chicana: Fine Art Prints by Modern Multiples, now up at La Raza Galeria Posada, 1421 R Street. This traveling exhibition of giclées of original paintings, collected by actor Cheech Marin, is a rich look at Chicano life from 1969 to 2001. The lush paintings run the gamut of Mexican-American life. See the religious elements in Marta Sánchez’s flowing “The Dance (La Danza)” or the traditional family celebrations of “Quinceañera (15th Birthday)” by Carmen Lomas Garza. Men and children toil in Jesse Treviño’s cotton field in “Los Piscadores,” while John Valdez’s intense “Getting Them Out of the Car” offers a bleak urban reality.
