Chaos theory

The tag line for Chaos 3, a conference for art directors, graphic designers and anyone else interested in design and the printing industry, is “an evening to expand the mind and belly.” That’s because, in addition to three inspiring speakers—animation legend Bob Kurtz, designer and “poster magician” David Lance Goines and local designer and musician Scott Hansen (a.k.a. Tycho)—guests will be treated to appetizers and dessert. The event also will feature a paper and vendor reception, where graphic-arts vendors will peddle their goods and guests can pick up the latest paper sample swatches. The event, which is scheduled for 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. this Friday, will take place at the Steven Lee Yamshon Alumni Center at California State University, Sacramento; 6000 J Street. Tickets are $55.
