Calling classy gourmands

Wine and cheese make any party instantly classy—even in a college dorm room. That means a wine and cheese event in a legitimately classy place, the Old Sugar Mill (35265 Willow Avenue in Clarksburg), promises some serious refinement. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, the venue’s seventh annual Wine & Cheese Faire will offer a diverse array of cheeses to pair with tastings from about a dozen wineries. Take a class about pairing, and after, shop among the vendors touting gourmet olive oil, honey, nuts, jam, vinegar and other items that heighten the tasting experience. Round out the day with a picnic on the grass, enjoying a meal from a food truck and live music. Admission costs $45 per day or $10 for designated drivers.
