Cal Expo fireworks

Midtowners too broke or lazy to drive to Cal Expo for the annual Fourth of July blowout usually head to B and 28th streets and watch from atop the railroad tracks. I say go farther: All the way to Sutter's Landing Regional Park's parking lot, then east along the levee. After a mile, you'll bump into families and old people in lawn chairs. Have a seat, and, when dusk gives way to night, witness the best front-row seats to Fourth of July on the grid. Free, 9:30 p.m.
