Bush Orwell ‘04

Even though we’re going to the polls in October to redo the flawed gubernatorial election of 2002 (so that a member of the
right party is elected this time), next year’s presidential election is right around the corner. So, it is fitting that the very popular incumbent has his re-election Web site up and running. It’s part news (“Patriotapalooza tour showcases Patriot Act, eroding civil rights,” “Bush gives nation a month off” and “Victory! Fox News calls 2004 presidential election for Bush”), part merchandising (nifty trucker hats and some nice bumper stickers) and part warning (“Liberals launch parody site at www.georgewbush.com”). The site is deep in content and is designed well. Indeed, if Bush’s campaign is this good, he’s already re-elected.
