Bring on the green slime
Give a man a toothpick and he’ll clean his teeth. But give a man 100,000 toothpicks and he’ll recreate San Francisco. Well, at least that’s what Scott Weaver did—and it took him 34 years. Hopefully, he didn’t neglect his gums during that time. Weaver’s meticulous sculpture, Rolling Through the Bay, will be on display at the California State Fair. This year, the fair has a theme reminiscent of Nickelodeon circa 1992: Weird, Wild & Wacky. It will host the usual fair activities such as rides, deep-fried food, horse racing, a demolition derby, agricultural events and concerts. Some “wacky” things to check out: a few rides from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch; MC Hammer performing on Thursday, September 3; and the zucchini weenie, a deep-fried hot dog in a zucchini. Yeah, seriously.
