Brian McKnight

Brian McKnight, one of the most consistent pop balladeers, shows on this new release that he hasn’t lost his street cred. He may sound right at home alongside ’NSync’s Justin Timberlake on the lush “My Kind of Girl,” he may delve into his spiritual roots with gospel’s Fred Hammond on “When Will I See You Again,” but McKnight shines brightest on Nate and Snoop Dogg’s “Don’t Know Where to Start,” giving it a classy and edgy flow reminiscent at times of his 1997 collaboration with Puff Daddy, “You Should Be Mine (Don’t Waste Your Time).” Even the title track with its AC/DC, Van Halen rock vibe doesn’t feel out of place here. But McKnight—who’s cut from the same old-school cloth as Teddy Pendergrass, Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross—specializes in sensuous love songs. Here he doesn’t disappoint, and he’s sure to keep women’s hearts racing with the first single, “Still.”
