Bread and Italians
Americans are always traipsing off to Italy in search of something—at least in the movies. Audrey Hepburn travels to Venice for a holiday in the 1955 classic Summertime, Liv Tyler heads to Tuscany in the film Stealing Beauty, and Diane Lane packs her bags to live Under the Tuscan Sun. In reality, most of us can’t afford to fly to Italy on a whim. We can, however, enjoy a little taste of Italy when we travel to Carmichael. Franca Vanzan, a native Italian from the Veneto region, teaches an authentic Italian cooking class at the La Sierra Community Center. This Monday, Vanzan will lead her students through the art of making focaccia and schiacciata bread. The class costs $25 and lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Grab your passport and head to 5325 Engle Road. Call (916) 485-5322 for more information.
