Boys Don’t Cry

One of 1999’s greater films tells the true story about the final days of Brandon Teena, a Nebraska woman who convinced a group of people that she was a he and subsequently died for her actions. Hilary Swank is remarkable as Brandon, and watching her work will tear your heart out of your chest. Peter Sarsgaard is frightening as John, the man who will take Brandon’s life, and Chloe Sevigny is excellent as Lana, the woman Brandon loves. The film is mighty hard to watch at times. Swank and Sevigny garnered Oscar nominations with Swank winning the Oscar.
