Boiler Room
Promises of million-dollar incomes lure 20-something males into a Long Island company that pushes junk stocks through high-pressure phone sales. This super-charged Wall Street meets Glengarry Glen Ross is a modern morality play in which greed breeds both human land sharks and a populace inebriated and seduced by the smell of easy money. Giovanni Ribisi is excellent as a young man who quit college to run a casino in his apartment and take a job in the “chop shop” brokerage firm. Writer-director Ben Younger fleshes out the film with a tense father-son relationship and a office romance. With Tom Everett Scott, Ben Affleck, Ron Rifkin and Nia Long.
