“Bob” Dobbs’ favorite guitar style?
It’s deep winter, if you haven’t noticed. While some people have enough bank to blow this Popsicle stand and head for warmer climes, like Hawaii, the rest of us must make do with the fog and rain. Fortunately, three stellar exponents of the slack-key guitar are bringing some Hawaiian cheer to chilly California this Friday, January 18, at 8 p.m. George Kahumoku, Keola Beamer and Ozzie Kotani will perform at the Folsom Community Clubhouse, 58 Natoma St.; doors for the general-admission show open at 7:15 p.m; tickets are $14 in advance, $16 at the door, and $8 for anyone under age 18. If you haven’t had your consciousness altered by the brightly colored flora and gentle trade winds emanating from laid-back island guitars, here’s your shot. Oh, and there are hula dancers.
