Blues and thunderbitchin’ beans!
Like a lead character from a noir film, Tommy Castro creates high-contrast black-and-white blues that’s simmering, explosive and sexy. And as the title of his brand-new album suggests, he is a “soul shaker” living in the same tough vocal terrain inhabited by Delbert McClinton, Paul Rodgers and John Mellencamp. Castro and his band have a suitcase full of new songs that let them visit good, funky places they haven’t been to before. Castro will headline a benefit for Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) this Sunday. The Eagle 96.9 FM joins Big Mike Balma and his Sacramento Heritage Festival volunteers to produce this BACA Bash and Poker Run, so you can count on Balma’s fabulous barbecue and his trademark “thunderbitchin’ beans!” Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the Beer Dawgs kick off the music at 1:30 p.m. It only costs $5 at the Sacramento Horsemen’s Club, located at 3200 Longview Drive (off Watt Avenue and Interstate 80).
