Blooze in a nice suit

We’re always on the hunt for a healthy dose of electric blues in a fine cocktail-lounge setting. Yes, there are many good local exponents of the genre, which you can see at such notable watering holes as the Torch Club and the Blue Lamp. And now that the “swing” revival appears to be, ahem, “maturing,” Aces Supper Club, a zoot-suit friendly joint out in Foothill Farms, is moving in a bluer direction. Evidence? Check out SlackJaw, an L.A.-based combo that knows how to get lowdown and grungy while maintaining a modicum of maitre d’-approved coolness. See them 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12-13), at Aces Supper Club, 5321 Date Ave. (near Madison and I-80). Admission is $8 Friday, $10 Saturday.
