Blood, sleaze and surprises

Trash Film Orgy

Midnight movies are supposed to be lots of cheap fun, yet few hosts go all-out quite like the folks behind the Trash Film Orgy. Now in its 13th year, TFO, “the world's most amazing midnight movie show,” presents some of the bloodiest, sleaziest, trashiest films ever made on Saturday nights at the Crest Theatre through the summer. In addition to the flicks, TFO also puts on premovie games in the lobby, has stage-show performances and always adds in a few crazy surprises. And, of course, audience members are encouraged to attend in zombie gear.

The event kicks off this year with the British zombie comedy film Shaun of the Dead on Saturday, July 13. Before the movie, there will be the customary TFO zombie walk—the oldest organized large-scale zombie walk in the world.

Other scheduled films include Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! on July 20. The evening will feature a “hot girl, hot rod race in the Arena of Doom” staged in the lobby before the show.

On August 3, The Road Warrior will be screened, and on August 10, check out Escape From New York. Then, on August 17, TFO celebrates its 100th show with a special double-feature screening of Blood Feast and Two Thousand Maniacs! Doors open at 11 p.m. for all shows, and the events are for those 18 and over only. Tickets are $10 for general admission—but only $9 for zombies. Crest Theatre, 1013 K Street; www.trashfilmorgy.com.
