Best brown ale

Every year, state brewers submit their best beers for professional judgment via the California State Fair. This year, multiple Sacramento breweries received honors, including Yolo Brewing Co. The West Sacramento-based brewery’s Nutty Brown took first place in the English brown ale category, and deservedly so. Mixing a toasted malt with three others in the mash resulted in a smooth, malty ale that’s sweet to the taste and, well, nutty.
