Berry confusing
Hybrid berries
If the country is a melting pot, our fruits have gone hog-wild. Apricots cross with plums (apriums, pluots) and oranges cross with lemons (Meyers). Berries have fun, too. Blackberries mix it up with raspberries to make loganberries, and then mix it up with dewberries to make youngberries. Then those offspring get together and make olallieberries! Confusing, yes, but all delicious. For any of them, you want springy fruits that don’t show signs of wilting or squashing. Eat them as soon as possible, as they don’t hold long. If you’re lucky enough to have a glut, make pie.
