July 28, Codex-Making Workshop
Bring your book-nerd self way back to the pre-printing press days by learning about codices—handwritten books from ancient Mesoamerican cultures that detailed the lives, beliefs and histories of the Maya, Mexica and Mixtec people—which eventually came to replace those cumbersome scrolls of yore. Attendees will also have the opportunity to make an OG book of their own. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, $15. 2574 21st Street; www.solcollective.org.
