Bang! Bang!
The Yankees and the Confederates will battle again at this weekend’s The Civil War Experience, a full-scale re-enactment of American combat circa 1863. Six hundred history buffs will don the blue and gray for a day punctuated by cannon fire, landmark speeches by Abraham Lincoln and lots of shooting and falling down dead. Make no mistake, the Civil War was a bloody event whose death toll exceeded one million souls. (So let’s re-live it!) The 300-acre battle scene is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. The Civil War-era music, crafts and wagon rides last all day. The carnage and explosions occur Saturday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is $9 adults, $7 children. Gibson County Park, 8556 Gibson Ranch Rd., Elverta.
