Bait
Flashy direction from Antoine Fuqua (The Replacement Killers) and a complementary, adrenal score from Mark Mancina nearly keep this overly long, derivative action-comedy from self-destructing. Bad-ass federal agent (The Green Mile correctional officer David Morse) has a high-tech tracking device implanted in the jaw of petty crook Alvin (Jamie Foxx) and uses him as bait to nab the mastermind of a $42 million gold heist. The 48 HRS. meets The Truman Show framework leaves room for Alvin to air his domestic laundry in melodramatic scenes with his ex-girlfriend (Kimberly Elise) and discover he is the father of a baby boy.
