Atreyu

The Curse

7 p.m. Friday, March 25; with Unearth, Norma Jean and Scars of Tomorrow; all ages. Colonial Theatre, 3522 Stockton Boulevard.

Sex, blood and rock ’n’ roll! Atreyu brings Dracula a hot glass of thrashing screamo sound with its album The Curse. With eerie guitar solos that will leave you with the feeling of spiders crawling on the back of your neck and songs like “Demonology of Heartache” and “The Crimson,” Atreyu brings crazed genius to its music genre. Alex Varkatzas’ vocals (which range from angry screaming to hauntingly melodic), coupled with a bass vibe that sounds like a rapidly beating human heart, add to the overall creepiness of the album. The Curse is a wild horror ride that will have any Nosferatu enthusiast begging for more. Atreyu has a live energy that could raise the dead from their graves, so if you see a few of the recently risen at its Sacto show, say hello.
