Apocalypse now
The images described in the final chapter of the Bible, “The Book of Revelation,” have provided grist for generations of hellfire and damnation sermons—beasts, devils, demons, the Whore of Babylon. After experiencing a vivid apocalyptic vision while being treated for a paralytic condition at a VA hospital in Oahu in 1989, South Carolina-based primitive folk artist William Thomas Thompson was inspired to paint images from the Word. That he’s been doing ever since, and some of those paintings will be on display this Friday, March 29, at Gallery Horse Cow, 1409 Del Paso Blvd. Thompson himself will be on hand for a meet-and-greet from 7-9 p.m.
